IPTV Smarters Pro has been taken down from the Google Play Store under a Spanish court’s decision. The massive Spanish football league La Liga initially brought the lawsuit.
The History of IPTV Smarters Pro Elimination
For a number of years, La Liga has taken strong action against services and streams that are pirated. Specifically, they are going after free-to-access streaming services and third-party IPTV subscriptions.
LaLiga sent the European Commission with a list of 20 unlicensed IPTV services and 30 streaming websites in the beginning of 2022. The huge Spanish league also announced the names of 80 video players.
The submission, meanwhile, was not entirely successful. IPTV Smarters was the sole app on the EU’s Counterfeiting and Piracy Watch List 2022 that was deemed questionable.
IPTV Smarters Getting Withdrawn
The European Commission declared IPTV Smarters, which operated under the name WHMCS Smarters, to be fraudulent. WHMCS Smarters is an IPTV software solution provider, according to the European Commission answer document. It also provides a number of other online digital services, including as web design and development, app development, and billing platforms. Additionally, the company sells IPTV Smarters Pro, an IPTV media player app.
The Motion Picture Association (MPA) designated WHMCS Smarters as a “Notorious Market” Piracy-as-a-Service Platform. The US Trade Representative acknowledged MPA’s concerns.
The US Trade Representative and the European Commission, however, made no particular accusations.
La Liga declared on December 22, 2022, that Google has consented to take IPTV Smarters Pro down from the Google Play Store.
